Dum Maro Dum

Genre: Crime, Mystery, Thriller
Director: Rohan Sippy
Language: Hindi
Story: Shridhar Raghavan
Star Cast: Abhishek Bachchan, Bipasha Basu, Prateik Babbar, Aaditya Pancholi, Rana Daggubati, Mariah Gomes, Govind Namdeo, Deepika Padukone, Anaitha Nair, Vidya Balan
Music: Pritam
Dum Maro Dum is a movie set in Goa. In the movie Goa became capital of drugs in India because of greedy politicians and businessmen. So CM of Goa appoints ACP Vishnu Kamath played by Abhishek Bachchan to hunt down all the drug mafia. Lorsa Biscuita aka Biscuit played by Aditya Pancholi is the main drug dealer in that area. Biscuita uses needy youngsters for drug trafficking. One of such innocent boys is Lorry played by Prateik Babbar who wants to follow his girlfriend to US for higher education. But Police trap him and charge him for drug trafficking. His well wisher Joki played by Rana Daggubati tries his best to get him out of it. ACP Kamath has to find Michael Barbusa, an invisible man who runs this racket through Biscuit. How Kamath does complete his job with the help of Joki and Lorry forms the rest of the story.
Dum Maro Dum is good thriller. Definitely it is not unwatchable. Very well narrated and directed story and well enacted too by most of the actors. Music by Pritam enhanced the movie experience. It has the oomph we associate with Goa. Abhishek Bachchan yet again managed to amaze me with his singing ability. Deepika Padukone in item number was hot.
Aditya Pancholi as a villain did good job. But it left me wanting for little more. I strongly feel Bollywood today missing yesteryears villains like Pran, Amjad Khan or Amrish Puri. Bipasha was almost wasted in the movie. Her role is almost forgettable. Climax of the movie was also little disappointing. Other than that Rohan Sippy did commendable job.
If I have to rate this movie I will give 7 out of 10.

"PAA"

Movie Review “Paa”

Genre: Drama

Director: R. Balki

Producer: A. B. Corp.

Language: Hindi

Star Cast: Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, Vidya Balan, Arundhati Naag, Paresh Rawal and others.

Music: Illaiyraja

“Paa” is a story of Auro played by Amitabh Bachchan. He is a 12 year progeria infected kid. These kids body grows 7 time older than their actual age. That means they do not live beyond 13-14 years. Auro is living with his mother Vidya played by Vidya Balan who is gynecologist and his grandmother played by Arundhati Naag. Auro calls her bum. Now Auro is very popular at school and fun loving kid. Once he wins an award in his school which was presented to him from a young politician, Amol Arte played by Abhishek Bachchan. Now Amol Arte happens to be Auro’s father; but both of them unaware of it. During vidya’s studding days abroad, she was in a relationship with Amol Arte. But when she got pregnant Amol suggest abortion as he did not want to spoil his political ambition. But Vidya decides to keep the child and dump Amol. Over the years Vidya kept a secret from Auro about who his father is. But when Auro reaches final stages of his life she reveals to him that Amol Arte is his father. And then rest of the movie is all about how Auro get his parents back together.

Paa is a heart touching movie. It is a family entertainment and kids going to love it. There is some excellent cinematic work involved in this film. First and foremost what should be mentioned are make-up artists who transformed Amitabh Bachchan into Auro. Then Amitabh Bachchan again comes up with amazing acting performance. Then the kid who played Auro’s best friend Vishnu was simply brilliant. All the scenes involving him are highly entertaining. Way to go for this kid. Vidya Balan, Abhishek Bachchan and Arundhati Naag gave justice to their respective roles. But I felt Paresh Rawal was wasted.

If I have to rate this movie I will give it 8 out of 10. And it is a Must Watch Movies for all Amitabh Bachchan’s Fans.

Top 30 Negative roles in Bollywood

Unforgettable Negative or Villainous Characters in Bollywood , Part - 1

Today I want to talk about villains in Bollywood films. The people whom we love to hate, whose job profile is to destroy Hero and his family, rape or trying to rape the heroine, and in the end getting killed by the Hero. Is that it? No much more to know about these negative characters. The Villains in Bollywood do not get their due recognition all though some of the best actors in Bollywood’s history did villains role. People like Amrish Puri, Amajad Khan, Pran, Ajit, Jeevan are far better actors that many of the Heroes of the Bollywood Films. Indicator of how much these people been neglected is that the Filmfare started to give awards for “Best Actor in Negative Role” only after 90. And the first person to receive the award was Sadashiv Amarapurkar for the role of Maharani in Sadak. And can you believe that legendary actor like Amarish Puri although nominated 6 times could not won the award. I mean if he does not deserve the award then who does?

So just as a Tribute to all these people I am listing “Best of the Negative Characters in Bollywood”

There are also people like Kadar Khan, Paresh Rawal, Shakti Kapur, Jeevan, Ranjit who excel in their job and in every film by being more and more evil. But I can’t pinpoint any one character of them so they might not be present in this list.

30. Laxmi Devi: Aruna Irani in “Beta”

Her character in the movie is of step mother to Anil Kumar. And who does evil things to him, just to have control on him and his property. She also tries to kill her husband for that.

29. Gulfaam Hassan: Naseeruddin Shah in “Sarfarosh”

Naseeruddin Shah come up with another brilliant performance as Gulfaam Hassan who is well known Gazal singer but also a Pakistani agent who is working against India. He is under wrap in first half but come out as the man who smuggles weapons across the border. Although being the supreme of villains in the movie most evil thing he does in the movie is removing the ears of a lamb. He could be called as most peaceful villain.

28. Abhishek Bachchan in “Yuva”

Abhishek Bachchan in his first negative character, he is not the ultimate villain in the movie but the most effective and eye catching character who can do anything for money and power. His character could rather be called as gray character rather than totally black evil one. He did justice to the character.

27. Priyanka Chopra in “Aitraz”

Priyanka Chopra played a scheming, greedy for money, cheating wife of an old business baron. In history of Bollywood cinema no other villain was as sexy and hot as her. She won “Best actor in Negative Character” award of Filmfare and other awards for this role.

26. John Abrahm in “Dhoom”

Was any villain was better looking than him? Was any villain had more female fans than Hero before this? John Abrahm wasn’t evil in this movie; he was villain just because he was a thief. There was scope for improvement in acting but the character was in itself was brilliant.

25. Kajol in “Gupt”

Kajol played jealous, unsecured, possessive lover who can go to any extent for her love. She received many accolades and awards for this role. She is my favorite actress, I actually does not like to see her in negative role but she did commendable job.

24. Commander Bhandra: Ashish Vidyarthi in “Drohkaal

Ashish Vidyarthi a brilliant actor played an educated rebel Commander Bhadra. This movie might be unknown to many but if anyone wants to know what is acting watch this movie.

23. Kancha Cheena: Danny Dengzopa in “Agneepath”

Kancha Cheena quite unusual name, Danny Dengozopa (I don’t if it is a right spelling of his name or not.) Danny displayed a stylized Don, with gelled hairs, expensive goggles, shoes and apparels all together.

22. Amitabh Bachchan in “Don”

Amitabh played double role in “Don.” The negative role last only for half an hour but Amitabh never look better in any other movie. “Don ko pakadna mushkil hi nahi …namunkin hai…”

21. Kesariya Vilayti & Chhappan Tikali: Gulshan Grover in “Ram Lakhan & Sir”

Gulshan Grover, the Bad Man of Bollywood. He always comes up with new look and unrealistic names in every movie.
