Lafangey Parindey

Movie Review “Lafangey Parindey” (2010)

Genre: Romance
Director: Pradip Sarkar
Language: Hindi
Star Cast: Neil Nitin Mukesh, Deepika Padukone and others
Banner: Yash Raj

“Lafangey Parindey” is one catchy name for any movie but sadly the movie could not live up to its title. This movie is set in the chawls of Mumbai. So we find all that happens in slums and already seen on screen many times in this movie also.

This movie is a story of One-shot Nandu (played by Neil Nitin Mukesh) who is a local fighter of Tilak Wadi. He always fights his opponents blindfolded so naturally takes lot of thrashing. But he is a Hero so in the end one deadly blow from him and the opponent is knocked down. These fights is his way of earn his food. Then there is Pinky Palkar (played by Deepika Padukone), who is ambitious and hates her surrounding at Tilak Wadi. She’s a talented dancer and has the dream of winning a talent show with her roller-skating skills. Then one accident entangles their life together. An accident caused by Nandu which made Pinky blind and crashed all her dream. So out of guilt Nandu decides to help Pinky to achieve her dream and start to train her. While this training they start to love each other. But what will happen when Pinky knows the truth? Will her dream ever come true?

There are some cool stunts on bikes, some funny and witty lines. I love the child actor with slang and witty lines. He was the best thing about this movie. Neil Nitin Mukesh is good, Deepika look beautiful; acting could have been bit better. Pradip Sarkar has lost a tack a little after ‘Parinita’. Actually this does not seem like his type of movie.

If I have to rate this movie I will give it 5 out of 10.

Once Upon Time In Mumbai

Movie Review “Once Upon Time In Mumbai” (2010)

Genre: Drama

Director: Milan Lutharia

Language: Hindi

Star Cast: Ajay Devgan, Imran Hashmi, Kangana Ranaut, Prachi Desai, Randeep Hooda

“Once Upon Time in Mumbai” is another underworld movie. We had already seen bunch of movies based on Mumbai’s underworld. We already had seen almost everything but still this movie is lot different than the others because of its larger than life presentation. Movie is more direct than most of the other films. Although filmmakers are presenting the Movie and its characters as fiction, we could easily make out the similarities between film characters and real life characters and situations. The character played by Ajay Devgan is based on ‘Haji Mastan’ and the character played by Imraan Hashmi is based on ‘Dawood Ibrahim’.

Watching this movie was fantastic experience. Highlight of the movie is not only the characters but also the dialogues. You could not help feel like era of famous Salim-Javed is back. Technically movie was amazing, good cinematography and editing, excellent music. All the actors played the characters brilliantly. But I loved the kid actor who played child Imraan Hashmi the most, as he set the tone of ‘Imraan Hashmi’s’ character right from the start. Above all congratulations to Milan Lutharia for binding everything together. There are no weak links in the movie; he hit the nail on its head.

I will suggest this is a Must Watch Movie, don’t miss it. If I have to rate this movie it will be 9 out of 10.
